Submission Guidelines and Requirements

Are you a UQ postgraduate student with insights, research, or creative writing to share? The APS Postgrad Magazine is your platform to showcase your work! Published quarterly and distributed across the university, it features articles, opinion pieces, research highlights, interviews, and creative writing from postgraduates across all disciplines.

What We’re Looking For:

Feature Articles – In-depth discussions on academic, industry, or social issues affecting postgraduates.

Opinion Pieces – Your take on current events, postgraduate life, or academic culture.

Research Spotlights – Simplify and showcase your research for a broader audience.

Interviews & Profiles – Stories of inspiring postgraduate students and alumni.

Creative Submissions – Poetry, short fiction, essays, and visual artwork are welcome!
Submission Guidelines:

Word Count: 500–1,500 words (except poetry and creative pieces).

Referencing: If applicable, use APA or Harvard style.

Editing: Submissions will undergo editorial review, and minor edits may be made for clarity.

Originality: All work must be original and not previously published.
Accompanying Images (Optional):

If submitting images or artwork, ensure they are high-resolution (min. 300 dpi).

Ensure you own the rights or have permission for any included visuals.

APS Postgrad Magazine – Terms & Conditions
By submitting your work to the APS Postgrad Magazine, you agree to the following terms and conditions: 1. Eligibility: Submissions are open to currently enrolled University of Queensland postgraduate students. All work must be original and not previously published in any other magazine, journal, or media outlet. 2. Submission Guidelines. Written submissions (feature articles, opinion pieces, research highlights, interviews, and creative writing) must be 500–1,500 words in .docx (Word document) or PDF format. Visual submissions (photography, illustrations, or artwork) must be submitted with minimum 300 dpi. If submitting accompanying images, the entrant must have full copyright or permission to use them. 3. Content Responsibility & Disclaimer: Entrants are solely responsible for the content of their submissions. APS does not endorse or take responsibility for opinions, claims, or representations made by authors. APS reserves the right to reject, edit, or remove any submission that: Contains defamatory, offensive, discriminatory, misleading, or unlawful content, violates copyright, privacy laws, or APS’s values, or includes false or unverifiable claims. APS shall not be liable for any legal claims, damages, or disputes arising from content published in the magazine. The author agrees to indemnify and hold APS harmless against any legal action resulting from their submission. 4. Editing & Publication: The APS editorial team reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, style, grammar, and formatting while maintaining the author’s intended meaning. Submission does not guarantee publication. APS may accept, reject, or delay publication at its discretion. Authors will be notified if their submission is accepted and may be contacted for revisions if necessary. 5. Copyright & Usage Rights: Authors retain full copyright over their work. By submitting, entrants grant APS a non-exclusive, perpetual license to publish, distribute, and promote their work in the APS Postgrad Magazine, on APS platforms, and in related promotional materials. APS may feature excerpts of accepted submissions on its website, social media, and newsletters for promotional purposes. 6. Plagiarism & Authenticity: Submissions must be the original work of the entrant. Any instance of plagiarism, AI-generated content, or misrepresentation will result in disqualification and potential removal from past or future editions. 7. Deadlines & Communication: Submissions must be received by the stated deadline for each edition. Late entries may be considered for a future issue but are not guaranteed publication. Entrants must monitor their email (including spam/junk folders) for editorial feedback, acceptance notifications, or revision requests. 8. Withdrawal & Resubmission: Authors may withdraw their submission before publication by emailing postgrad@uqaps.org. Previously rejected submissions may be revised and resubmitted for future editions unless otherwise stated by the editorial team.
