APS Editing launched in 2022 to offer affordable and accessible editing services to students. Initially available to HABS, SCI, and MED students, it expanded in January 2023 to all Higher Degree by Research students (HDRs) at UQ's faculties and institutes, funded by the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).

If you're working on a thesis, Academic Editors are ready to assist. Here's how the process works:

  1. Be sure you're a registered with APS.

  2. Fill out the online submission form and attach your Word document. You can submit up to 6000 words once every research quarter. Remember, submissions are handled in the order received. If you have a specific deadline, mention it on a cover sheet, but note editors might not accept urgent requests.

  3. After editing, you'll receive your document with track changes. You must review and incorporate these changes and comments yourself.

  4. Before submitting, ensure you're familiar with UQ's policies on student integrity and misconduct.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Page Size: A4

  • Word Limit: 6,000 words max

  • Fonts: 12 point Times New Roman or Calibri

  • Spacing: 1.5 or double

  • Margins: 2.3cm

  • Other: Spell-check your work, number the pages, and include your name and student number on the cover sheet. Your submission must be related to your UQ studies or research and submitted at least one week before your deadline for a timely review.
