About
The University of Queensland Singapore Medical Society brings together medical students with an interest in Singapore’s healthcare system, professional pathways, and community connections. The society supports students throughout their medical journey by creating opportunities to connect with peers, healthcare professionals, and organisations across both Queensland and Singapore.
The society aims to help students stay informed about developments and reforms within Singapore’s healthcare sector while supporting those considering a future career in Singapore after graduation. Through academic support programs, career-focused initiatives, and networking opportunities, members are able to build professional connections and gain valuable insights into medical pathways both locally and internationally.
Alongside professional development, the society places a strong focus on community and student wellbeing. Members can take part in a range of social, cultural, educational, and welfare activities throughout the year, helping strengthen connections within the UQ medical cohort and creating a supportive environment for Singaporean students studying abroad.
The society also works to expand opportunities for members through clinical electives, volunteering experiences, and collaborations with external organisations, including the Singapore Medical Association of Australia and New Zealand and the Singapore Global Network.

Throughout the year, the society hosts a range of events including:
- Cultural celebrations such as Chinese New Year and Singapore National Day
- Social gatherings including picnics and prata nights

- Welfare initiatives providing snacks and meals during exam periods
- Career and networking opportunities connected to the Singaporean healthcare sector
