SUPPORT

APS offers a free academic editing service for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students. Whether you’re polishing a thesis chapter or preparing a paper, we’re here to help your writing. Our external editors will check your document for grammar, clarity, structure, and style.

You can submit up to 6,000 words once per calendar year. Just upload a Word document with standard formatting (12pt font, 1.5 or double spacing, margins) and a cover page with your name and student number. We suggest submitting early to allow enough time for editing—last-minute requests might not be possible. You’ll receive tracked changes and comments to help you polish your work. To access the service, you need to be an APS member – just sign up and submit your document through the form on our website.

    Project Funding

    APS funds student projects, covering costs for events, workshops, and community engagement.

    Bursaries

    APS bursaries provide financial support for conference travel and placements.

    Rent Relief

    Support available for postgrads doing it tough. One-time payment covering up to 1 week of rent (max $350).

    Club Funding

    APS offers funding of up to $1,000 to support initiatives led by UQ clubs.

    Academic Editing

    Academic editing for HDR students, supporting theses, articles, and proposals to meet scholarly standards.

    HDR Coffee Catch-Ups

    Monthly drink and finger food from Patina at Alumni Court. A relaxed environment to share ideas and chat about research.
