Club Funding Form The APS Club Funding Program offers financial support to UQ postgraduate clubs accredited by APS, empowering postgraduates to achieve their goals while enriching their academic experience and contributing to the broader university community. Eligibility: Only clubs formally accredited by APS will be eligible to apply for funding under this program . Funding Allocation: Accredited clubs may submit multiple applications for funding throughout the year for club initiatives and activities. However, the total annual funding allocation is capped at $1,000 per club, subject to approval by APS. Multiple applications are encouraged. An additional funding allocation of up to $1,000 per annum shall be available, contingent on the club's membership list size and in accordance with the sliding scale. Material Support: Each accredited club is able to access up to two (2) pull-up banners and twenty (20) custom t-shirts per year for the purposes of promoting the club and its activities. APS aims to create a platform for all postgraduate students to engage socially and professionally with students from other schools, faculties, nationalities, cultures and general interests. Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) Jackals The JKMRC Jackals is the postgraduate student association of The University of Queensland's (UQ) Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), one of the world’s leading research institutes dedicated to providing solutions for the global minerals industry. Originally founded over 30 years ago by a group of passionate postgraduate students and alumni from the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC), the Jackals have since evolved to become a vibrant and inclusive community that now welcomes members from all six of SMI's research centres: JKMRC, WH Bryan Mining and Geology Research Centre (BRC), Centre for Water in the Minerals Industry (CWiMI), Centre for Mined Land Rehabilitation (CMLR), Minerals Industry Safety and Health Centre (MISHC), and the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining (CSRM). The Jackals provide a collaborative platform for postgraduate students to foster academic, social, and professional connections. Through regular events, workshops, and networking opportunities, the association helps to enhance the research experience, facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration, and support students in navigating the unique challenges of the minerals industry. Whether through hosting industry engagement sessions, organizing technical seminars, or coordinating social activities, the JKMRC Jackals play an integral role in building a strong postgraduate community within SMI.
