The School of Biomedical Sciences Student and Academic Social Society (SBMS SASS) plays a pivotal role in fostering a sense of community, networking, and collegiality among all members of the School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Queensland. Through a diverse range of events and activities, the society actively promotes engagement and collaboration between students and staff, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment within the school.

The SBMS SASS committee is dedicated to building a welcoming and collegial atmosphere for everyone, with a strong focus on empowering HDR (Higher Degree by Research) students and providing opportunities for staff-student collaboration. By facilitating leadership roles for HDR students, the committee ensures that students have a voice in shaping the school’s social and academic activities, while also contributing to their professional and personal growth.
To achieve these goals, SBMS SASS organizes regular social events that are open to all members of the School. These events, ranging from casual gatherings to larger community-building initiatives, are designed to help students and staff develop meaningful relationships, share ideas, and collaborate on shared goals. Additionally, the society engages in fundraising activities to support its initiatives and give back to the broader community.

Whether you're an undergraduate student, an HDR researcher, or a staff member, SBMS SASS provides a platform for connection, leadership, and camaraderie, ensuring that the School of Biomedical Sciences is a supportive and dynamic place for everyone to thrive.
